CVFD Holds Annual Awards Dinner
COVID had cancelled the last two years Installation Dinners for the Cronomer Valley Fire Department officers and awards ceremonies. With New York State re-opening, we were able to hold our first Department gathering post COVID restrictions for our members, auxiliary and families at our Annual Picnic on Saturday, July 17th on the fire station premises. The pending thunderstorms were no deterrent for the 150 in attendance. Tents were pitched, the hall was set, the DJ played the music and Pamela’s on Hudson catered the event.
The main attraction surrounding this years celebration was the presentation of “80 Years Service Award” for member Donald Stillwaggon who will reach his 100th Birthday this November! Besides the CVFD presentation, Don received accolades from Orange Co. Volunteer Fire Police Association, NYS Fire Police Association from Dot Brown, Fireman’s Association of New York (FASNY) proclamation from Tom With and standing ovation by fellow firefighters. Many have reached the 50 year mark but it is unheard of to make it to 80 years in a fire department.
