Emergency Preparedness
Firefighters dedicate their lives to helping those in need at the drop of a hat. They train. They spend countless hours away from their families. They work under some extraordinary conditions. And some even become victims to injury and death while performing their duties. This holiday season we ask that you keep all first responders in your thoughts and prayers so they can make it home safe to their families.
One way you can show your appreciation is by taking steps to assure your own safety. We ask that you follow simple fire prevention guidelines. Check out our Holiday Safety stories here.
Another way to help us is being prepared for the unexpected. Keep your smoke and CO detectors up to date. Have an exit plan for home and work. If you have a detector that causes false alarms, try to move it to another location or fix why it is happening. False alarms cause complacency for you and us!
Consider installing sprinklers in your home or business. Check with your insurance company on what it can save you. Watch what you are cooking in your home or break rooms. Keep heat sources away from things that can catch fire. All these little things can prevent big disasters. Don’t let it happen to you! From all of us at Cronomer Valley Fire Department- Have a safe and happy holiday season!
