In Memory of Steve Scott
It is with regret we announce the passing of our beloved Fire Police Steve Scott, father of Firefighter Tyler Scott. Steve died unexpectedly at home on June 28th, 2023. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1980-1984 as a Fireman. He has been a volunteer fireman for 43 years in both Orange and Rockland Counties. Steve served with the Orangeburg Fire Department in Rockland before moving to Newburgh. He joined his son Tyler as an active member of the Cronomer Valley Fire Department in 2020 where he served as Fire Police.
He was a great mentor to many scouts, following them to the rank of Eagle Scout for 21 years. He also served as Scout Master. He also was an active member of the Orange County Fire Police Association, Putnam and Westchester Fire Police Association, and the NYS Fire Police Association. His dedication to the community was second to none. He was an inspiration and second father to many. The Cronomer Valley Fire Department truly mourns the loss of Steve and sends prayers and condolences to his close family. The last words spoken to us was “I have to go home and hold my grandson.”
May you rest in peace Steve at the big station in the sky! A visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5th from 4pm -7pm, with a Firematic Service at 6pm. A funeral home service will take place on Thursday, July 6th at 11am, with burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
