Past Chief Moreno Remembrance
The Cronomer Valley Fire Dept mourns the loss of Past Chief Juan Moreno III after learning of a tragic accident June 6, 2023. Juan grew up in Long Island NY and moved to this area where he joined our Department in 2007 and worked his way up to Chief from 2017 through 2019. He was proud to follow the footsteps of his father who was a firefighter in the City of New York. He was a friend to everyone he met and loved to brag about his family.
Juan worked for New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation as a Health and Safety manager, assigned to the NYC Region. He had a passion for boating and diving. He started a Dive Team in our Department that lasted many years. Juan was enthusiastic about taking fire related classes in a variety of subjects and even traveled to Nevada for Radiation Tech School. In his spare time he would build models and fly model airplanes! He also loved taking drone videos of his adventures.
Juan moved to Florida in 2020 to be near family and enjoy warmer weather. At the same time he could live near water where he could pursue his love of boating and diving. We will miss Juan and his dedication to our Department. We send our condolences and prayers to his family as they have a huge void to fill in their lives. God has taken him so soon but has left his impression on us. May he rest in peace as we carry on his mission.
