Travel Safety
One of the most important safety topics we spread is know two ways out and have an exit plan. Travelers often forget this since we get caught up in new experiences. Drivers are taught to watch mirrors and plan for defensive action in case of an accident. Divers have signals and backup plans of escape. Cruise ships have life boats and brief you for exit. Airplanes brief you preflight on emergencies, but when we go to the local restaurant when packed or sports event indoors, have you planned what you would do? Probably not. Hopefully we do an exit plan subconsciously wherever we are.
Planning is a big part of our lives and relates to fire safety as well. If you go on a US flight after October 2020, you must have an enhanced NYS drivers license or passport. The DMV has advertised this over and over as well as security at airports. Guaranteed there will be many who will be stranded because they did not plan for upgrading their license. So do your planning now ahead of time. College students- check your dorm for detectors and sprinklers as well as two ways out. Travelers- look for detectors and know how to escape wherever you room or event is. Workers- make sure exit plans are posted for anyone in your location and have a plan for evacuations. Don’t be that person who is going to be stuck at the airport!
